The Washington Metropolitan Area Chapter (WMAC) is the local chapter of the American Payroll Association located in our Nation's Capitol. Our chapter meetings are held at the Fairview Park Marriott in Falls Church, Virginia.
Benefits of Membership in WMAC-APA
| Meetings The WMAC holds 6 meetings a year and presents a speaker on subjects impacting the payroll profession such as current and future legislation, technology, compensation and fringe benefits. Speakers include representatives from government agencies in addition to subject matter experts. |

Annual Conference The chapter also participates in the annual Virginia Statewide Payroll Conference (VSPC). This conference is a 2 day conference in held in October. The VSPC is a great opportunity for education and networking. Attendees to this conference can be from 7 chapters covering Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. |
| Networking Membership in the WMAC and attendance of the chapter meetings and conference(s) is a great way to meet other payroll professionals in the area, discuss common oncerns, share information and past experiences. |

CPP/FPC Study Group For members who are planning to take the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or the Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) exam, we offer a study group for our members. This study group is facilitated by our members, who are Certified Payroll Professionals, to assist in preparing for the exam. |
| Newsletter Our chapter publishes a newsletter for each meeting that contains important information on legislative updates, as well as articles and other informaion of interest to local members. |

Government / Legislative Updates Our Government Liaison provides updates for our newsletter, at our chapter meetings and on the website. During the year, you will also get emails directed to our members concerning various legislative changes that impact our profession. |
| National Payroll Week (NPW) As a joint effort with APA, the local chapter is active in recognizing all payroll professionals for the vial role they play in maintaining the smooth functioning of the payroll tax withholding system and for working effectively with federal, state and local tax officials. |

Annual Dues
Anyone interested in joining their fellow payroll professionals in the Washington Metropolitan Area can become a member of the Washington Metropolitan Area Chapter of the American Payroll Association for only $70.00 per year per person. This membership belongs to the individual, not the company.
