 APA Payroll Certifications:
The American Payroll Association developed and administers the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and the Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) certification programs.

The CPP is the way for payroll to finally be recognized as a measurable professional discipline. The CPP designation is an indication that an individual has achieved a high level of expertise and is qualified to meet the broad range of complex issues faced by Payroll Professionals every day.

To better serve all levels of the payroll community, the American Payroll Association developed a second certification, the FPC.  This certification was first administered in September 2000.  The FPC designation is awarded to individuals based on payroll knowledge, not expertise; thus, there are no eligibility requirements for the FPC examination.

There are currently over 9,400 CPPs and 3,500 FPCs.

How the WMAC can help you become a CPP/FPC:

The WMAC has organized a CPP/FPC Study Group as a benefit to our members. We have assembled a group of subject matter experts to teach these classes and are very proud that our pass rate typically surpasses the national average.
