What is the American Payroll Association?

The American Payroll Association is the professional society for Payroll Professionals, and was founded in 1982 with the following objectives:

1. To increase the Payroll Professional's skill level through education and mutual support.

2. To obtain recognition for payroll, as practiced in today's business and legislative environments, as a professional discipline.

3. To represent the payroll community in Washington, DC

4. To provide public service education to the national work force on payroll taxation and employment-related issues.

The APA has grown to include more than 22,000 Payroll Professionals and continues to grow, demonstrating the high level of interest on the part of the payroll community participating in the wide range of activities available to APA members.  Anyone engaged in payroll administration and/or related fields is eligible for APA membership.
